Busan in the Rain

August 16, 2010 at 1:05 pm (Uncategorized)

Went to Busan on a random, unplanned weekend trip. It was a lot of fun – but unfortunately it rained. We all know what it is like going to a beach town when it is raining…. But luckily it still turned out to be a great trip. I still went in the ocean, even though it was freezing (the kind of temp. where you lose feeling in your limbs). But not to brag…. I was like a duck in the water — there was some major sissies out that day. Freaking-out over some baby waves. Amazed at the # of beach umbrellas — the beach was covered. Day 2, I went to the Busan Aquarium. It was a lot of fun. I enjoy visiting aquariums because it really relaxing looking at the fish. But after spending a good amount of time looking at the fish, I had to eat some. kkkk^^ Busan is known for its fresh seafood, so I decided to partake. Went to a seafood market, picked out a fishy-victim, and ate ‘im. It was some kind of flatfish (flounder?) and it was sliced-up sashimi style with lots of side dishes along with it. Delish~~ I really had a good time in Busan; I was mostly happy to get out there because I had been promising myself I would visit Busan all year. So, it felt like mission accomplished. High-fives, anyone?

B-boy Slam Down

August 16, 2010 at 12:44 pm (Uncategorized)

Went to a b-boy concert/play in Seoul a week ago. It was a lot of fun. Couldn’t help but be amazed at the dancers’ talent. I certainly wish I could do back-flips and spin myself around on the floor. But sadly, not all of us  are that talented. This was further proven to me when I was unwillingly dragged to the stage (*re pic of me with the gentleman culprit) to showcase my amazing white-girl talent. I should have known it was a bad idea to be the only American in crowd of Asians watching a b-boy concert — maybe it led to some strange delusion that I could dance like Madonna or Beyoncé. But I can’t… Thus, I publicly embarrassed myself on stage with a strange hula-like twisty dance. I wish I could have played it up that I was Hawaiian and it was a cultural dance — but this is hard to do when the background music is Hip-hop music. Needless to say, I was happy when I could finally escape to my seat, in a thankfully still dark room.

Girls doing a cute Korean pose

Back in Korea. The flight was unsurprisingly long – 15hours. Killer. Suffering from the time difference, but hopefully in a couple of days I will have transitioned.Had a wonderful albeit short time in the States. Spent most of it with family and friends going to the beach, kayaking, chatting, and eating. I swear I really stuffed face back in the States. *Special thanks to all who assisted in this* Man I really missed GOOD American food. Soon English camp starts. Joy~ I will post again when there is something more eventful to detail. So for now, anyong~!!
